Transhuman, pt. 2: Consequences

Okay. This is such a strange sensation.

I've started hacking at an NFC reader/writer app to get some obscure fields on a vCard. I've started breaking formats and getting errors and such. In my tinkering, I reached a point where the tag's record was corrupt and would not be read by most applications.

There were bugs in my body—an experience both exhilarating and actually pretty nauseating.

Through some low-level reads, I was able to reset some stuck records and restore full functionality of the chip. But for a moment—for three panicked hours of debugging myself—I seriously thought I bricked it.

While maybe a bit dramatic, this encounter felt like a profound moment—tonight held a critical occurrence, which struck me at a deep level, and brought into perspective the decisions I have made. My transcendance was a couple days ago, but only tonight were consequences realized. I come to terms, not with my mortality, but with the permanence of what I bind to it.

I've since purchased some test tags to sandbox with, rather than hacking in production. In vivo? In Vivi.
